Inspired by YABA Founder Sharon Jandu OBE’s experience as a magistrate and the work that YABA does with disadvantaged people, the Yorkshire Asian Business Community Action group was created to serve the community. Working closely with mental health and other industry experts, YABCA creates, runs and evaluates programmes that help local communities with a range of issues from employability in single mothers to confidence in children. Satvir Meen is a passionate professional that believes that regardless of socio-economic status everyone deserves the support to achieve their potential. This will help them to support the economy and make informed decisions. Satvir is a PSHE teacher working with pupils from an SEN and SEMH background, she has managed the Intervention Team as well. In her role at GDPA she was the operations director. Part of this role was delivering bespoke programmes to NEETS, under NEETS, Youth Offender and community members that were furthest away from the Labour market. We also ran programmes in Schools that addressed enterprise and positive role models.
Bolu Fagborun is the CEO of Fagborun Limited, an executive coaching & consultancy business. He delivers YABCA’s sessions in empowerment and employability. Fagborun Ltd has a range of business investments ranging from sports delivery program, Nigerian crop farm, landscape gardening and courier company. A former professional athlete with Huddersfield Giants, Sheffield Eagles and Batley. He’s played and coached international rugby league. Post sporting career he’s successfully transitioned into a provider of bespoke transformational executive coaching and consultancy specialising in leadership both for emerging talent and executives in high growth and highly skilled industries like tech, digital and consultancies. Bolu is a committee member for the West Yorkshire combined authority culture, heritage and sports helping deliver on these vital sectors for the 2.3 million people in the region. The committee is chaired by the country's first female metro Mayor Tracy Brabin. He is a former alumni of Bradford university & Huddersfield university
Ronan Scott has made significant contributions as the Head of Corporate Membership at the Yorkshire Asian Business Association whilst heavily supporting the community work of YABCA. His ability to forge strong partnerships with members has been crucial in advancing YABA's mission of driving economic growth and prosperity in the region. Throughout his tenure, Ronan has been instrumental in accelerating the expansion of the YABA Membership, leveraging his expertise to attract new Corporate Members while nurturing existing relationships. His proactive approach and keen understanding of market dynamics have played a pivotal role in enhancing YABA's visibility and influence within the business community. These strong partnerships which YABA have been able to develop with corporate businesses are key when it comes to inspiring and supporting the next generation through our community work at YABCA. Committed to supporting YABCA and giving back to the community, Ronan has been instrumental in supporting the success of many projects such as "EmpowerHer," a program designed to provide mentorship and resources to young women, empowering them to reach their full potential and become leaders in their own right. The "Building Connections" programme in partnership with Direct Line Group and UK Youth, which was designed to help build the confidence and employability skills of 16 - 25 year olds in the heart of the community. Ronan has also helped to support many other community projects through YABCA leading to many successful occasions such as our very own careers event and more.
